Landing Pages for Shopify App Google Ads

By Boaz Lantsman · Founder, Convert2x & Prys · Updated July 2026

For some Google keywords, your ads aren’t allowed to lead to the Shopify domain. Which rules out your app store page and forces a landing page. Most apps build one wrong. Here’s the version that converts.

Short answer: most Shopify apps should send Google ads straight to their app store page. Build a landing page only when Google restricts the Shopify domain for a keyword, or when you monetize off Shopify. When you do, lead with a merchant value proposition and app store proof, test a direct-install CTA, and make sure the click ID survives from ad to payment so attribution never collapses to “direct.”

When you need one

Two cases: keywords where Google restricts Shopify-domain destinations, and monetization outside Shopify. Everything else usually converts better straight to the app store page. Don’t add a step you don’t need.

The structure that converts

Header: your value proposition for Shopify merchants, a product image, review references (“4.9★ on the Shopify app store”), and one clear CTA. Below: key features, pricing, testimonials, FAQ. And if the page runs long, repeat the value proposition and CTA.

The CTA decision

Buttons can send visitors to your app store page (extra step, some drop-off) or use a direct installation link that bypasses it. Test both. Direct install usually wins for high-intent keywords.

What kills a landing page

Four failures account for most lost conversions: slow load (Google punishes it in Quality Score and merchants bounce), a header that doesn’t match the ad’s keyword, too many competing CTAs, and broken attribution. Fix speed first, mirror the ad’s promise in the header, keep one primary action, and verify tracking end to end before you scale spend.

Keep the attribution

The classic landing-page failure: the click ID dies on your domain and every conversion becomes “direct.” Your tracking must carry click identity from ad → landing page → app store → install → subscription → payment. Prys covers landing-page traffic end to end, which also means Google’s AI and Meta’s AI keep receiving conversion values from landing-page campaigns.
